Our Policies

Our policies help families understand how our school works. They address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.

Attendance

Regular attendance is vital for student success. Being present every day helps children build strong learning habits, friendships, and confidence. We encourage families to support consistent attendance and let us know promptly if a child is away.

Communication Gudelines

At Milperra Public School, we value the partnership between families and staff in supporting student learning and wellbeing. Clear, respectful communication is essential to achieving the best outcomes for our students. To also support staff wellbeing and ensure they can bring their best to the classroom, we have established guidelines for communication. Staff are not expected to respond to non-urgent emails or messages outside of school operating hours, allowing them time to recharge while maintaining open and effective communication during the school day.

School Behaviour Support and Management Plan

Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Uniform

A school uniform identifies children with a school, promotes student allegiance and also acts as a means towards providing equality amongst children, regardless of socio-economic background. Wearing the correct uniform each day helps create a positive learning environment and represents our school community with respect.

Homework

At Milperra Public School we believe that homework is a valuable part of schooling. It provides opportunities to practise skills, review content and deepen understanding of concepts learned. Homework can also assist students to develop self-regulation processes, such as goal-setting, time management and study skills. Homework also supports school-home relationships through connecting families with the learning of their children. We believe that the setting of homework needs to take into consideration the need for students to have a balanced lifestyle. This includes sufficient time for family, sport and recreation and cultural pursuits.

Anit-Bullying

Every student has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected. Our anti-bullying policy promotes kindness, inclusion, and clear steps for preventing and responding to bullying behaviour.

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

Our BYOD policy helps students use technology as a learning tool. By bringing their own devices, students can access digital resources responsibly and safely, while developing skills for the future.
