High Potential and Gifted Education
At Milperra Public School, we believe that every student can demonstrate high potential when provided with the right opportunities, support and challenge. Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) practices are designed to recognise, nurture and develop studentsā strengths, talents and passions across a range of areas.
HPGE at Milperra is inclusive, flexible and responsive. We focus on talent development over time, ensuring students are supported academically, socially and emotionally as they grow.
What is HPGE?
High potential students are those who demonstrate the capacity to perform at a level significantly beyond their age peers in one or more domains. Gifted students are those whose potential has been developed to a level of high performance.

- The Premierās Spelling Bee promotes our studentsā vocabulary development and attention to detail in competitive settings.
- The Premierās Debating Challenge helps our students to build logical arguments and confidence in public speaking.
- The Schools Spectacular is an iconic performing arts event that celebrates the talents, diversity and creativity of students from across NSW public schools.
- The Premierās Sporting Challenge (PSC) promotes whole-school participation in physical activity with leadership pathways and professional learning.
- The Representative School Sport Pathway and PSSA and CHSSA events enable our students to trial and compete in sports at regional, state and national levels, fostering discipline, commitment and collaboration.
